OUR STORY
SPØT is owned and run by two sisters, Anne and Andrea. We grew up on Sotra, just outside Bergen (Norway), and come from a long line of artisans and craftsmen. Our grandmother was a master of knitting and crochet. She taught us to appreciate fine craftsmanship and was the one who passed down her skills in knitting and crocheting. The name SPØT is a tribute to her - in her local dialect "spøt" means "knit".
In 2024, we founded SPØT with one simple goal: to share our passion for knitting with others and create beautiful, timeless designs. Each of our patterns is the result of countless hours of dedication, creativity, and a deep respect for traditional craftsmanship.
We want to make a difference, not only by spreading the joy of knitting but also by giving back to the community. That’s why, when we established SPØT AS, we committed to donating 10% of our annual profits to charitable causes. Through this, we hope to contribute to positive change and support those in need.
We hope our patterns bring you as much joy as they bring us.
Thank you for being part of our journey!
ANDREA
The first knitting project I can remember came off the needles when I was 9 years old. With plenty of help and support from my grandmother, I had knitted socks for my little cousin. I was very proud of my accomplishment. Since then, my passion for knitting has come and gone in different phases of life, but creativity and the joy of making things have always stayed with me.
Although I love knitting for my many (very adorable) nieces and nephews, my favorite projects are for myself—especially clean, timeless designs.
ANNE
A patient grandmother with a love for both her grandchildren and crafting was all it took to spark my knitting journey. The first thing I remember knitting was a patchwork blanket for my doll's bed, using leftover yarn that Grandma had stored in bags behind the sofa. She was always focused on doing things properly and taught me early on the value of unraveling mistakes to get it right. The great thing about yarn is that you can always try again!
When I was expecting my first child, knitting became an even bigger part of my life, and since then, I’ve lived by the motto: if I’m sitting, I’m knitting.
I have a particular fondness for textured knitting on fine needles.
